HPC Midlands, the East Midlands Regional Centre of Excellence for High Performance Computing (HPC), is proud to welcome researchers and industry representatives to learn about the power of HPC in delivering competitive advantages and connecting with collaboration, funding and innovation opportunities in the East Midlands at our Industry Breakfast on June 16th.
Life Sciences is the third largest industrial sector for use of high-performance computing in the UK. While the entire sector is facing the challenges of bigger datasets and increasingly complex models there are certain early adopter fields like chemistry, bio-engineering, molecular biology and pharmacology taking advantage of hardware designed to quickly find a needle in the haystack.
The Head of Innovation at Medilinks East Midlands, Dr Ros Graves, will be presenting on the advantages regional facilities like HPC Midlands provide in increasing a company’s attractiveness to funders and collaborators. Dr Graves will further explore how such advantages are crucial as Nottingham, Derby and the whole East Midlands continue to expand its Life Sciences sector.
Hosted at Loughborough University HPC Midlands is in a unique position to pair its advanced supercomputing facility and some of the East Midlands most established experts in chemical engineering, medical design and regenerative medicine with industry looking for a low-cost, low-risk method to stay competitive.
